BA (Hons) Photography | Photographer & Videographer | Buckinghamshire & London |
I'm Lyla McBrearty, a photographer and videographer working across Buckinghamshire and London, creating authentic visual work across music, portraiture, live events and commercial projects.
My work is built around people. Whether I'm photographing a packed venue, directing a studio portrait or documenting the atmosphere behind the scenes, I aim to create imagery that feels genuine, engaging and connected to the people at the centre of it. Every project is approached collaboratively, creating work that reflects the identity of the artist, brand or community behind it.
Alongside digital photography and filmmaking, I enjoy exploring alternative creative processes including cyanotype printing, Riso printing, screen printing, film photography and experimental printmaking. My background in art and design, together with experience using CAD and 3D design, allows me to approach projects from a broader creative perspective, blending traditional techniques with contemporary visual storytelling.
In 2026, I completed my BA (Hons) Photography at Buckinghamshire New University, where my Final Major Project, Collective Resonance, explored grassroots music communities through documentary photography, moving image and independent publishing. The project reinforced my passion for collaborating with artists and documenting the creative culture surrounding live music, while further developing my practice across photography, videography, publishing and exhibition design.
Throughout my career, I've collaborated with organisations including Reading Pride, The Venue Bucks, Selcouth Collective, Wycombe Arts Centre and All Saints, while photographing artists including Joel Corry, Tion Wayne, DJ AG, members of The Vamps and Hardy Caprio, alongside emerging musicians, bands and creative communities across Buckinghamshire and London.
My work has also been recognised through the Chiltern Railways photography competition, with three photographs selected for public display on the railway bridge at High Wycombe Station.
Whether working with an independent artist, creative agency, venue or commercial client, my goal is always the same: to create thoughtful photography and videography that people genuinely connect with.
LET'S CEATE SOMETHING TOGETHER.
Whether you're an artist, brand or venue, I'd love to hear about your next project and explore how we can bring it to life.
